LENOVO SELECTED AS A CONSTITUENT STOCK OF THE HANG SENG CORPORATE SUSTAINABILITY INDEX SERIES

HONG KONG, July 15, 2010 – Lenovo Group today announced that it has been selected as a constituent stock of the Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Index Series – the first index of its kind to focus exclusively on Hong Kong and mainland China. This selection fully demonstrates that Lenovo’s efforts in creating sustainable business practices have been well recognised.
In view of the increasing international interest in sustainability investment and the call for companies in the region to promote sustainability, Hang Seng Indexes Company Limited (“Hang Seng Indexes”) has introduced The Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Index Series, which will be launched on 26 July 2010. After a thorough review of the performance of listed companies in Hong Kong, Hang Seng Indexes has selected Lenovo as one of 30 charter companies listed in Hong Kong, that perform strongly according to corporate sustainability criteria, into the initial Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Index and The Hang Seng (Mainland and HK) Corporate Sustainability Index. The index serves as a vital reference tool for the investment community and the general public as a benchmark for socially responsible investments.
“We are proud to be selected as one of the first constituent stocks of this socially relevant index,” said Lenovo CEO Yang Yuanqing. “As part of our commitment to corporate social responsibility, Lenovo has been contributing to build a more sustainable world. We not only want to thrive as a profitable business but we also want to create a built-to-last company with sustainable business practices. The result is a culture in which sustainability is embedded in Lenovo’s core values — it’s a part of who we are as a company, and who we are as people.”
As a global company, Lenovo supports and implements sustainable business practices and is devoted to ensuring that its products, employees, sites and suppliers are following the commitments the company has made to socially responsible business practices. Lenovo’s corporate social responsibility commitments encompass areas of:
·        Environmental affairs, which is a strategic focus in all aspects of the company’s business, from product design and supplier selection to manufacturing and product life cycle management.
·        Focusing on product quality and safety throughout the entire life cycle
·        Building a safe and healthy workplace where Lenovo treat its people as the company’s greatest asset.
·        Maintaining the highest ethical standards with a commitment to integrity and responsibility
·        Donating time and resources to philanthropy to help those less fortunate and, when disaster strikes.
