Dezember 2021 – Lenovo gibt den Start von Work for Humankind bekannt, einer Initiative, die Freiwillige aus verschiedenen Teilen der Welt dazu aufruft, an einer einmaligen Gelegenheit teilzunehmen: von einem der abgelegensten Orte der Welt aus mit einer der fortschrittlichsten und intelligentesten Technologien einen nachhaltigen Beitrag zu leisten. Menschen aus aller Welt können sich bewerben, um am täglichen Leben dieser Inselgemeinschaft teilzunehmen und vor Ort zu helfen.
Robinson Crusoe Island, ein Ziel mehr als 400 Meilen westlich des chilenischen Festlandes und einer der ökologisch reichsten Orte auf dem Planeten. In unserer sich wandelnden Welt steht sie heute vor vielen Herausforderungen, darunter der Zugang zu Bildung und Gesundheitsversorgung, die Auswirkungen der Zerstörung von Lebensräumen und invasiven Arten. Dazu werden in Zusammenarbeit mit ‚Island Conservation‘ und der lokalen Gemeinde mehrere Wiederherstellungsprojekte durchgeführt, einschließlich der Entwicklung dringend benötigter Konnektivitätslösungen für die Infrastruktur der Insel.
Lenovo schafft ein hochmodernes Technologiezentrum mit einer Reihe von Hardware, Dienstleistungen und Lösungen der Intelligent Devices Group des Unternehmens, einschließlich Hochgeschwindigkeits-Internetverbindungen, die der Insel helfen werden, ihre Ziele zu erreichen – die Ausstattung von Freiwilligen für ihre tägliche Arbeit und die Unterstützung von Naturschutzprojekten in dieser Oase der Tierwelt und kulturellen Vielfalt. Hybride Arbeit wie nie zuvor
Eine neue von Lenovo initiierte Studie belegt die wachsende Bedeutung von Remote- und Hybridarbeit für die Generation Z und Millennials. Darüber hinaus zeigt die Studie, dass der Wunsch nach Flexibilität aufgrund der Vorteile für den Einzelnen und die Gesellschaft insgesamt zunimmt – dazu gehören Geldeinsparungen, mehr Zeit für Freunde und Familie und eine bessere Vereinbarkeit von Beruf und Familie.
Die globale Studie, für die mehr als 15.000 Personen in 10 verschiedenen Märkten befragt wurden, zeigt, wie bereit die globalen Wissensarbeiter – insbesondere die jüngeren Arbeitnehmer – sind, ihr tägliches Umfeld zu verändern und ihre tägliche Arbeit von einem entfernten Ort aus zu erledigen und gleichzeitig einen Beitrag zur Gemeinschaft zu leisten. About Robinson Crusoe Island
Robinson Crusoe Island or Isla Robinson Crusoe, formerly known as Más a Tierra (meaning ‘Closer to Land’)2, is the second largest of the Juan Fernández Islands archipelago. It is located to the west of San Antonio, Chile, in the South Pacific Ocean. It is one of the more populous of the archipelago’s inhabited islands, with the majority living in the town of San Juan Bautista at Cumberland Bay on the Island’s north coast. The Chilean government renamed the location as Robinson Crusoe Island in 1966, in reference to its literary legacy – acting as the inspiration behind novelist Daniel Defoe’s fictional Robinson Crusoe3.
About the Juan Fernandez Community
Roughly 900 people live in San Juan Bautista, Robinson Crusoe Island a rural community in one of the most remote locations in Latin America. The local economy relies heavily on a sustainably managed artisanal fishery of a lobster that occurs nowhere else in the world. The community has led efforts to protect its natural heritage with support of local institutions by establishing a National Park in 1995, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 1977, and the Juan Fernandez Sea Marine Park which covers 286,000 km2 of protected area. Local tourism includes the many natural beauties of the island, its culture, diving, horseback riding, bird watching, fishing and of course the stories and places of the famous novel ‘Robinson Crusoe’ by Daniel Defoe.
