Visa and Lenovo Team Up for Torino 2006 Olympic Winter Games

PURCHASE, N.Y., November 10, 2005 – Continuing their collaboration as global brands and TOP worldwide Olympic sponsors, Lenovo and Visa International today jointly announced that they will work together on activities aimed to enhance the visitor and viewer experience during the Torino 2006 Olympic Winter Games.

As part of the agreement, Lenovo will provide Visa with computer equipment and services to support its operations in Torino. Using ThinkPad notebooks and other Lenovo PCs, Visa employees and guests will have secure, reliable access to information to ensure Torino operations are conducted efficiently. These include Visa hospitality venues and the Visa Olympians Reunion Center, an elite, on-site meeting place for Olympians from past games to socialize while following the Olympic Winter Games.

In conjunction with Visa’s recently launched, “Visa Championships – Torino 2006” online video game and international competition, Lenovo will award all 23 runner-up national winners new ThinkPad Z60m wide-screen notebook PCs. These notebooks offer gamers and media enthusiasts superior sound quality and a variety of multimedia features, and come equipped with fully integrated wireless technology. Lenovo will also work with Visa to design and stage the global championships in Torino, with the final competition taking place on ThinkCentre desktop PCs from Lenovo.

In addition, Lenovo will partner with Visa to provide Lenovo employees and guests with a Lenovo-branded, prepaid card in Torino. Lenovo employees and guests will be able to use the collectible prepaid card, designed with the Lenovo and Visa brand marks and a special commemorative Olympic Winter Games design, for expenses including food, snacks and other items at Olympic venues in Torino.

“This agreement brings together two global leaders from their respective fields to help make the Torino 2006 Olympic Winter Games a more interactive and exciting experience for people worldwide,” said Deepak Advani, chief marketing officer, Lenovo. “As the world’s leading electronic payment brand, Visa requires the highest level of security and innovation to support its activities during the Olympic Winter Games. We’re proud to deliver the computing equipment Visa needs.”

“Our priority during the Olympic Winter Games is to provide our consumers beneficial ways to participate in the Olympic experience whether they are attending or watching around the world,” said Scot Smythe, senior vice president, Sponsorship at Visa International. “We chose ThinkPad notebooks and ThinkCentre desktops for their unmatched level of security and reliability to help us deliver superior service and access to information during the Torino 2006 Olympic Winter Games. Our agreement with Lenovo is a natural progression of an already positive relationship and is indicative of the Olympic Games culture fostering collaboration and teamwork.”
