Lenovo Advances ThinkPad Mobile Workstation Software Solution

Enables Geoscientists to Perform Complex Workflows, Uses Industry-Leading Geosciences Software and Mobile Workstation Technology

DENVER, CO – Oct. 28, 2014: Lenovo (HKSE: 992) (ADR: LNVGY) today, at the SEG International Exposition and 84thAnnual Meeting, announced that its ThinkPad W540 mobile workstation will be used by Landmark, a Halliburton (NYSE: HAL) business line, to support Landmark’s DecisionSpace® G1 Edition solution for geoscientists. Lenovo and Landmark will provide users with the ability to perform resource-intensive geoscience workflows using the mobile workstation.

Designed uniquely for geoscientists, DecisionSpace® G1 Edition gives users a new way to access the interpretive power, leading science and integration capabilities of Landmark’s DecisionSpace Geosciences suite.  In addition to geologic and geophysical interpretation, these capabilities include fully integrated earth modeling, horizontal well correlation, attribute analysis, well-tie workflow, velocity modeling, and dynamic depth conversion – all advanced, multi-domain capabilities not provided by other standalone packages. Users will be able to integrate and interpret multiple seismic surveys to target sweet spots and locate new or bypassed pay using the Lenovo ThinkPad W540 mobile workstation.

Lenovo’s ThinkPad W540 is a complete solution for users demanding a mobile, independent software vendor (ISV) certified workstation. The W540 is powered by the latest Intel Quad Core i7 processors, up to 32 GB of memory and graphics processing capability delivered courtesy of  NVIDIA Quadro graphics with Optimus 2D and 3D content creation. As a result of this partnership, users can rest assured knowing they are running the most advanced geosciences application available without compromising performance, versatility or mobility.

“Our DecisionSpace G1 Edition is the ideal solution for geoscientists who require a complete reservoir characterization solution without sacrificing industry-leading data management,” said Kenny Laughlin, geophysics manager at Landmark. “This agreement will bring the advanced capabilities of our DecisionSpace suite to users of Lenovo’s ThinkPad W540 mobile workstation and provide the necessary performance to execute these demanding workflows.”

“The Lenovo ThinkPad W540 is designed for the professional user – namely, those users who must be completely mobile without compromising their ability to perform the tasks required of them,” said Christopher McCoy, vertical solutions, energy, oil and gas, Lenovo. “Our partnership with Landmark will allow us to provide unique solutions to these geoscientists that allow them to achieve their mission-critical goals in the field.”

Recently, Lenovo announced the launch of the Lenovo ThinkStation P Series, the most advanced and powerful family of desktop workstations available. The Lenovo ThinkStation P Series is also certified for DecisionSpace G1 edition. To learn more about the Lenovo ThinkStation P Series, visit www.thinkworkstations.com.
